Speed

Small, fast, built in Rust.

SuperEditr is a native Mac app with a Rust engine. Fixes show up while your hands are still on the keys.

  • Offline fixes in about 20 ms. The built-in checker needs no model and no network.
  • Apple Intelligence: first words in about 0.4 s, done in about 0.7 s. On-device, measured on a Mac Studio.
  • A 13.5 MB download. It reads your selection off the main thread, so a slow app can’t freeze your Mac.

The same engine runs from the command line, which is how we time it.

SuperEditr does one thing, and does it really well.

It fixes your writing wehrewhere you wrote it. Focused, configurable, and free of bloat.

Keys

Effortless key bindings for everything.

Every action has a shortcut, you can change any of them, and any style can have its own. Try them on the panel: it replays recorded answers, while the app works on your text.

Your AI

Bring the AI you already pay for.

Or don’t use one at all. Pick what suits the moment in Settings, and change it whenever you like.

Private

Fully private with local models On your Mac

Use the built-in checker, Apple Intelligence (macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon), or a local model through Ollama or LM Studio. Your text never leaves your Mac, and it all works offline.

AI

Your own AI, if you want it Your key or account

Connect a Claude, OpenAI or Gemini API key, or use your Claude subscription through Claude Code. With Haiku 5.5, a thousand reviews cost under 10¢.

Models

Scan finds keys and local models already on your Mac. API keys are stored in your Keychain.

On-device or local, it never leaves your Mac. With a cloud key, your text goes straight from your Mac to that provider, and never to SuperEditr. SuperEditr as it ships today has no servers, accounts or analytics.

Questions

Is it private? Does it work offline?

Fully private with local models. With the built-in checker, Apple Intelligence (macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon) or a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, your text never leaves your Mac, and no network is needed. With a cloud AI, see the question below.

Is SuperEditr free?

SuperEditr is free during early access. Everything that runs on your Mac will stay free: the offline checker, Apple Intelligence, local models through Ollama or LM Studio, the built-in styles and every shortcut. Some advanced features, like using your own AI provider keys, may become part of a paid upgrade later. We’ll announce that before it happens.

Where does my text go if I connect a cloud AI?

Straight from your Mac to the provider you chose, under your own key or plan. It never passes through SuperEditr: as it ships today, SuperEditr has no servers, accounts or analytics. If your text must stay on your Mac, use the offline checker, Apple Intelligence or a local model.

Which apps does it work in?

Anything where you can select text: Mail, Messages, Notes, Slack, Chrome, Safari, and AI chat windows like Claude and ChatGPT. It reads only the text you select and never reads password fields.

Why does it need Accessibility access?

macOS requires it for any app that reads a selection in another app and writes text back. It’s the only permission SuperEditr asks for.

Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Windows is coming soon. There’s no Linux version yet; the source is open if you’d like to help build one.
